	Positive Plaza Alternatives There's no question that if the Plaza is expanded in Port Huron, it will be a huge, messy, inconvenient project right in the middle of the City. The construction will disrupt and reroute traffic, and in the end Port Huron will have a big facility in its center that will be devoted to serving people passing through from other places. Maybe that's all it will ever be. Or maybe it can be the start of something much greater. That part is up to us. The City and area have a choice. We can mope around crying in our beer about those Big Nasty State and Federal Governments taking parts of our city and sticking us with all these problems. Or we can try to get out ahead of this project, work with the state and federal agencies, and try to capitalize on our status as a major international border crossing. We can look for a win/win solution that benefits everyone. We can start thinking and planning ahead to diversify our economy to play to our natural strengths, such as transportation and tourism. It won't be easy, and it won't happen overnight. It will call for more than just standing around waiting for Someone to Do Something. The Someone is us, and the Something is thinking creatively and aggressively about the future, and then taking action. There are plenty of parties willing to work with us, but in the end we've got to do it for ourselves and for our children. What will we do? What should we do?

Positive Plaza Alternatives
There's no question that if the Plaza is expanded in Port Huron, it will be a huge, messy, inconvenient project right in the middle of the City. The construction will disrupt and reroute traffic, and in the end Port Huron will have a big facility in its center that will be devoted to serving people passing through from other places.

Maybe that's all it will ever be.

Or maybe it can be the start of something much greater.

That part is up to us.

The City and area have a choice. We can mope around crying in our beer about those Big Nasty State and Federal Governments taking parts of our city and sticking us with all these problems.

Or we can try to get out ahead of this project, work with the state and federal agencies, and try to capitalize on our status as a major international border crossing. We can look for a win/win solution that benefits everyone.
